2. Relax at Unawatuna Beach
The specialty of this beach is white sand. Many people find this place for relaxation. So, after enjoying marine life, this will be a great place to kick start your journey with a perfect relaxation of mind and body. You have to travel just 24 Km to reach this place from Hikkaduwa, which is directed to the Southern part of Sri Lanka. Or else, a straight turn from Colombo airport.
You can easily find a resort to stay within a 150 m radius from the beach. You can get a wonderful beach viewpoint from there. You can enjoy Sri Lanka’s iconic Roti in Unawatuna “Roti Kade”. In the Southern part of Sri Lanka, you will find the Kataragama temple and worship the Hindu god ‘Murugan’. July and August will be the best season to visit this place. The festival lasts for about two weeks. And you can expect a wide range of people visiting Kataragama Kovil.
The pageant is choked with parades of elephants and colorfully dressed performers. There are numberless ancient dances that take place; with musicians, acrobats, and fire-breathers feeding into the festival’s god’s energy. You can enjoy Sri Lanka’s iconic “Kalu Dhodhol” which is made of rice flour and jaggery. And also you can visit “Sella Kataragama Temple”.

And you can feel the humidity in the air. Hey, guys just come here to forget all your tension and feed nature’s love to your soul.
5. Take a visit to Adisham Bungalow
You can go through a confusing climate at Haputale. The eastern side breeze from Wellawaya is directly hitting the mountains of Haputale because there are no other mountains in the middle of both areas. Due to that, no one can predict the climate of Haputale.
Adisham is a country house and a secret place. This is completely made of black stones. It is its specialty. It took three years to build this bungalow in the British Era. You will be charged $0.25 per adult and $0.12 per child to enter the bungalow. Here there are 28 rooms. Out of that only 18 rooms are given for the visitors to stay for a night. You will be charged $18 per night with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can buy fully organic fruits from a 55 years old fruit garden.
In the British Colonial period, there was a shortage in paint colors, therefore, the paintings in Adisham Bungalow are fully colored by using the juices extracted from trees, flowers, and herbs. And the painting will look at you whatever the direction you stand.
6. Climb the Sigiriya Mountain
Be ready to climb the Lion Rock Fortress once you visit Sri Lanka. This is a 1600 years old rock. The best time to visit Sigiriya is early morning or late afternoon due to the hot climate. This is only mountain rock standing 200m above the ground in the flat plateau.
You can enjoy watching the paintings, pools, and green valley above the rock and inside. King Kassiyappa has well-polished mirror walls to see his reflection. You can see yours in the masonry walls.
7. Get the experience of unforgettable sunrise at Adams Peak
Are you a hiking lover? Adams Peak is the best mountain to get a hiking experience. Your journey must start at 4.00 am to see the sunrise. If you miss the morning view, it is useless climbing the mountain. People who climbed it say that climbing the first two mountains was easy but the last one is the energy cracker. You must have never given up energy to climb the rest.
It starts with an easy walk through a tea plantation, followed by a few flights of stairs that lead you to a few meters of rocky terrain. Don’t forget to take a bottle of water, sunglasses and a good camera. Then try to spend around 30 minutes at the top. The view is breathtaking.
8. Get excited through experiencing Tamil Culture in Jaffna
Jaffna is less crowded than other main cities in Sri Lanka. You can visit many wonderful places when you travel towards the north part of our Pearl.
Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Nayinai Nagapoosani Amman Kovil (which is located on one of the small islands, you have to take a boat to reach there), Keerimalai Hot Spring, and uncrowded beaches. The Keerimalai Hot Spring is located near the sea. But the miracle is no seawater enters this pool and the water is not salty. There is a great belief that all your illness vanishes when you have a bath in it.
9. Evening Walkthrough Galle Fort Streets
You can explore Galle Fort at any time of the day. But there is something really special about its sunset. This place is surrounded by the ocean on its three sides. It was built by the Dutch in 1663.
Visit Galle Fort to see its lighthouse, to watch the sunset from the fort walls, to shop on Pedlar, to get a nice dining experience, to stroll timeworn laneways, to explore the colorful markets, and to embrace the local culture and people.
10. Visit the Golden Temple at Dambulla
This cave temple is made of a massive granite outcrop. You have to climb the mountain through steps. Don’t worry it will be an easy finish. In the middle of the climb, you will find the Golden Buddha Statue. Take your own time to admire its gigantic view. Once you reach the top you can see the entire area. And you have to go inside a wide carved rock and look at the old artworks and many types of Buddha statues.
It takes only 4 hours to travel from Colombo. There are no other charges taken from you to admire this place. Before climbing, just buy some soft drinks or a water bottle. You will need it.
